USAPL Military Nationals was held in Pensacola, Florida on 08MAR2008. All of my gear and my car were stolen in San Antonio, Texas a week before the meet. I decided the day after the theft to drop out of competition, I had only to singlets left, no bench shirt, no squat suit, no deadlift suit, no squat shoes, no belt and no wraps(wrist or knee). On Tuesday I decided to go ahead with the competition and compete RAW at Military Nationals. I intended to squat 700, Bench 611,and dead 700. Thursday night before I left on Friday to drive out to Pensacola, Gary Pendegrass of Sequin,Texas was notified of my incident and donated a fellow brother in powerlifting a set of wrist wraps and a set of knee wraps(Thanks Gary). My training partners(Ennis White, a student of Gene Bell and long time friend)flight was canceled and he had to ride out with me on friday morning. My wife donated her car for the trip(nothing better than a West Virginia girl with a big heart). Johnny Gram and the rest of the staff were informed of my situation and did their best to ease my mind to stay focused on my lifts. I squated 611 in a singlet and a pair of Starbury low tops($11.00 at Steve & Berry's retail store), bench opened at 430lbs raw(gym lift for reps 450 for 3 sets of 3), second attemp was 550 with a shirt(donated by Darrell Evans(friend of Ennis White and trained by Gene Bell), missed 550(new shirt never broken in),567 third attempt was good for two whites on red, dead lift raw was 633. USAPL was very supportive for this event as well as the rest of the lifters from different origins of the globe. I won my class and received a total of three gold medals.I am still new to powerlifting(2years) and I hope to put up bigger numbers in the future(I am still learning the game). Thanks Malinda(From Phantom Warrior Powerlifting Team in Killeen,Texas) for keeping my head in the game and off of my stolen car and gear. My car was recoverd at the border of Mexico in Laredo, Texas(all gear was gone). My wife and I are pressing full charges. Next meet, Texas state meet. Wish me luck.
