In Response To: Re: yet you'll believe a 2000 yr old book (Dave Caligaris)

Dave,In your reponse to another individual you claimed that the laws of the Old Testament were "immoral". Question, who are you to make that decision? If the OT was simply a product of man's invention and there is no higher power than man himself, who are you to tell any other man that your morality is of a higher plain? Who are you to say God's law is immoral? By what authority can you make that determination? The inverse will logically be that those who accept God's laws believe your rejection of those laws to be immoral. Who is right? Without a higher authority than you or me, no man can claim "rightness". If "rightness" is truly subjective then what makes it wrong for me to eliminate all those who disagree with my rightness? If I believe it to be right to do so, it is right. Dawkins, Dennett, Martin and Hume himself may not like God, but without Him, none of them or you have a right to tell me anything about morality because it doesn't exist without Him. You will counter that it exists on another basis. I will counter questioning the authority of that basis. Is it simply another man telling me what is or isn't moral. Who is right? Logic dictates that a system of laws based on ultimate truth creates a less chaotic world. If you allow morals to change with the times as they are in this country, who is to say that some of today's most terrible crimes against society won't be acceptable in 20 years? If it is ok to abort a baby at 3 weeks, why not at 3 months? If 3 months, why not 9 months? If 9 months why not 3 days after birth? If it is ok to kill a three day old baby, why not two years old? Extreme? All of these examples have happened in the history of man. Without an absolute source of truth, morals have no basis. I look forward to your response. hogpit804@yahoo.com (if you care to continue in the future.) kw. ps, you don't have to attend university to have access to all the books.
