Well, I went back and read genesis:

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3 And God said, Let there be light: 2 Cor. 4.6, and there was light.

4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

...then we jump to another reference of a solar day:

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

So seems God worked in the dark creating our sun, the heavenly bodies, and earth, then voila! He lit the stars and Sun: Ta da!! Light! To me, this is a 24 hr day from first to sixth to the seventh, when god the creator kicked back. It wud seem he did two-a-days straight thru, i mean, he was pooped at the end but saw some gains.

Ambiguity is important to allow those to interpret what version feels right. I'm sure some bible college offers PhD's with dissertations around the first 7 days in Genesis.

(I note your cycle sign off, Jim, what do you ride?)
