My top 242'ers
From the 60's- Mel Hennesey- Huge Bench and Squat
From the 70's George Frenn ( 2100 at 242 wearing silk track shorts crappy Ace Bandages and a thin belt)
Jon Cole started out as a 242'er and them did his biggest lifts- 2370 at around 280 in 1972 or so
From the 70's again- John Kuc - anyone who saw his 870 deadlift at a ripped 242 would have been shocked how easy it was. Also was one the best supers of his era before health and blood pressure forced him to lose weight
One more from the 70's Doug Young- phenomenal Bench, and like someone said just enough SQ+DL to win World Titles ( He trained the SQ and DL once a week for a 5-4-3-2-1 program and trained the bench and bodybuilding 3 or 4 times a week)
From the 80's Terry Mc Cormick, and Marv Phillips- all out of Samson's Gym in Orange, Ca. Phillips the ultimate Squatter, Terry super deadlifter Honorable mention Benchers- Mike Mac, Jeff Magruder Freaky DL+SQ- Dan Woheleber who squatted and pulled big numbers at 242-275 but could barely bench 380-400 ( bad pec tear)
From the 90's Eddy C, Ivanenko, Suslov and Bull Stewart
2000'- Panora Grandick and Goggins. Goggins the 1st to squat 500 kilos
Karwoski lifted well at 242 but did his best ( IMHO) at 275. Hatfield jumped from 198 straight to around 255 plus ( all his 5 foot 5 body could hold comfortably ) for his assault on a 1000 lb squat
