In Response To: just look at the mean earth temp by year (Scott Slaterly)

Yes, lets look at the data:
-Most natural processes of the earth are cyclical, and so are long-term temperature cycles. Studies of ice cores from Russia's Vostock Antarctic station show that the earth's temperatures have been cycling for the last 400,000 years.
-The earth's temperature actually goes up before the CO2 increases. The rise in CO2 is a result of the temperature increase, not the cause. CO2 is released from the oceans as they warm in the same way that it's released from a soft drink as it gets hot.
-The glaciers have been shortening for about 200 years, and the trend started a century before significant amounts of CO2 were produced by human activity.
-The earth's surface temperature correlates with solar activity, not hydrocarbon use. Increased solar activity inhibits formation of high-altitude clouds, increasing the earth's surface temperature.
-Paleoclimatic records are full of cycles that correlate to sun-spot activity.
Do we have a consensus yet?
