But the whole point of Judd's article is about how difficult it is to compare TODAY'S powerlifts and powerlifters, not whether gear use is a bane or a boon or whether history demonstrates that the sport was better "back in the day".

Judd's simple premise about being unable to name the best current bencher due to the need to qualify a dozen different parameters is what exposes the current farce that calls itself powerlifting.

If Judd's viewpoint raises the hackles of most powerlifters, it's not surprising. Trying to defend a sport that exists on a dozen different plains with a dozen different agendas and still is lacking in any respect from the mainstream media is frustrating, to say the least.

I'd be pissed off too if I were the emperor that wasn't wearing any clothes and somebody had just pointed it out...
