This past weekend, USAPL Quest American Invitational was a huge success at the Arnold. The team concept I initiated was very well received and I feel it made the entire meet that much more interesting and kept the crowd excited along with the lifters.

There are a lot of people that were involved with this competition that made it an overwhelming success. Larry Maile, the President of the USAPL, logged so many sky miles from Alaska to Ohio has to be given kudos for bringing the USAPL to the Arnold and putting together a great committee that worked diligently together to pull this off. Priscilla worked countless hours behind the scenes along with Lance Slaughter.

Rick Fowler was a huge asset and brought a lot to the meet along with announcing and preparing the PowerPoint presentation. Pat Anderson came all the way from Georgia to announce with his powerlifting historical expertise and did an awesome job. Greg Paige and Niko Hulslander brought the equipment and helped to set up and break down. Without their efforts, we would not have had such a success. Niko along with setting up the venue, he also helped coach, announce and deadlifted on the main stage. The Marksteiners did their usual awesome job scoring the meets. Also I wanted to thank the spotters and loaders for their selfless hard work.

Robert Keller did an awesome job doing the technical work and putting together the officials for the event. All the officials did a great job and I received a lot of positive feedback from the lifters and their coaches, as well as from others. Johnny Graham, as always, came to work and performed up to his high standards.

The assigned coaches for each team did a great job. I have received a lot of positive feedback from the lifters about the coaches and everyone seemed to think the meet was awesome.

Arnold, the “Govenator” himself, showed up at the Quest American Invitational and watched enthusiastically the heavyweight lifters’ DL for about 25-30 minutes. We stood together by the platform and I answered his specific questions about the lifters and their attempts. When he learned that Wade Hooper had broken the World Record squat earlier in the day, he personally congratulated Wade and had pictures taken with Wade.

Congratulations again to all the lifters and their coaches! I would like to personally acknowledge and thank Inzer Advance Designs for their contribution to all the Quest American Invitational meets and stepping up as they always do for the lifters and powerlifting in general. Their generous contribution made the 2008 Quest American Invitational that much better. Thanks, Inzer!

We were honored to have the IPF President Detlev Albrings and the Vice President Susumu Yoshida and other IPF high officials in attendance. Thank you for your support!
