Scott,

Many of the University Professors studying this or related fields are able to get grant money by using "buzz words" related to global warming and take advantage of the current media hysteria. These professors will not publicly bite the hand that feeds them so they may well "tow the party line" if asked for an opinion but in reality they may be just using the situation to obtain more funding for their research. This happens all the time and the Global Warming movement is a better opportunity than most.

I agree with Joe M - look at both sides and objectively decide for yourself without blindly agreeing with either side.
