Inaugural WABDL Collegiate National Championships *LINK*

The first-ever WABDL National Collegiate Bench Press and Deadlift Championships will be held on September 20, 2008, at the Gateway Convention Center in Collinsville, Illinois, about 10 minutes northeast of St. Louis, Missouri. Illini Powerlifting, of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, will be the host team. This meet will contest the collegiate division only, and lifters will be able to establish new WABDL collegiate state and national records (lifters who are international students will also be able to set national records for their home countries). Lifters will only be able to set WABDL collegiate records at designated collegiate meets, such as the National Collegiate meet.

For some time now, I've wanted to see WABDL conduct a national collegiate meet. While the USAPL runs an excellent full-power collegiate championship in April of each year, I know there are many single-lift and push-pull collegiate lifters who would be interested in putting their strength to the test in a national competition, as well. I am hopeful that the WABDL National Collegiate meet will offer them the venue to do just that.

Our meet will be drug-tested through urinalysis.
