Chuck...hitting the upright is not an infraction in the USPF. It only becomes one if the touching of the upright aids the lift.

" 9. Deliberate contact between the bar and the bar rest supports during the lift in order to make the press easier."

The USPF judges are instructed to not to call this infraction frivolously...but obviously we don't live in a perfect world..LOL!!
