Well, I read all these posts, and I hear what everyone has to say, but all I have to go on is my own personal experience, which has been in the area of Olympic weightlifting. . . .

In September of 2006, Les put on the YMCA Nationals in Austin, along with Olympian Oleg Kechko and the OK Weightlifting Club. I'm not sure how may lifters were there, but the number had to be 50+. Each of us "podium" winners got a sculptured figurine as a trophy, maybe 12" or 14" tall . . . .

All in all, a totally fun meet, everyone had a good time, and there was some SERIOUS weightlifting going on . . .

I think when I made mention of this in an earlier post, another blogger on here called me a liar. I was going to send this blogger a picture of the figurine trophy, but then, why bother. . . . .

Anyhow, for the 2008 YMCA Nationals, ALL I have to go on is my 2006 experience, which was very positive. . . . And I'm taking it on faith that the 2008 experience will also be positive, so I'm keeping an open mind about it. . . . .
