,,,often at odds with certain mossbacks in the AAU who wanted to kill 'odd lifts.' But by 1958 the AAU began keeping odd or PL lift records if they were done in an AAU sanctioned contest.

It was 1964 when the AAU standardized Squat, BP and DL as the official lifts for PL, but with the Bench Press to be performed first in competition.
