I understand what you are saying. I have friends that have hurt themselves and done just enough to qualify for World's knowing they will be healthy by the end of the year for World's. I myself have done the opposite where I got hurt about 5 years ago a month before World's in Laughlin and just went and did a token 446 raw bench and even won my raw division. I went for 2 reasons, because I qualified and to see my friends/camadarie.

Like I said before you never know what's going to happen at World's especially in this day and age of shirt benching. You also don't know who is going to show up or make the trip. We've all seen elite lifters bomb at big events for one reason or another. So on any given day things could go your way.

Why have a World's meet then? Let's just look at the meet results for each federation for the year and crown a World Champ in each federation based on their numbers. If this was the case then there would be no need for a Superbowl, World Series, play-offs and so on. Just take the best record and crown them Champions. Nope we don't do it that way, do we? We have to make the playoffs first (aka qualify), then we play against other teams (some even better then us), then if we win we can go to the Championship game. We win that we're the Champions and sometimes or a lot of times best records don't win it all. Just look at the San Diego Chargers last year.

I say if you qualify go for it. Get some expierence and have fun at a World meet. Plus who wants a small world meet with only several lifters per class? We can have that at the local level.

We kind of got off the subject of the 259 class but I do see where you're coming from as far as a qualifying total verses winning your class.
