Thanks for the post without slamming me. The conflict in the Dominican Republic did not get a lot of press for a reason I do not know. People fought and died. I guess it was not a Democrat conflict. We were still having the missle fuss with Cuba about Russia bringing in missles and the Dominican getting involved. The world was a mess back then and I guess still is.

Being in the 82nd was an adventure. We got put on alert when one of the maned space modules got fouled up and they were going to have to bring it down, probably over China, and we got alerted to get ready to go to China and get it back. We were going to invade China for our capsule which would have been fine with me, even though I do speak he language.

After JFK got assinated we were restricted to our barrracks for two weeks. We were going to go somewhere to get someone. Never found out who, we knew why about a month later.

Bob Hope even came down to entertain us. I got about a 1/4 of a mile from him. We were sleeping in dirt and high grass and the Air Force had cots in the hangers with clean sheets and covers. We grunts do all the work and get screwed with the bennies.

We were sleeping in a construction area when we got there are sleeping bags and I caught the crabs. We had no sanitary facilities and had to do our stuff in the nature. We finally got latrines and I noticed that had dirt in my pubic hair that was moving around. Hum, that ain't supposed to happen. I went to the medics and they gave me a sauve to apply and wash off in 24 hours.

Yeah, wash off, we had not bathed in 6 weeks, no water, thank goodness for your blessings, thank goodness for rum, which was very easy to get, easier than water. We had tropical showers every day and we would bathe in the water runing off the roofs. At the time I was very fluent in Spanish which helped a lot. It was sort of amusing, four or 5 guys running around naked in about a 30 minute max

Thank goodness I now sleep in a clean bed with a beautiful woman and am very happy with my life.
