GOHEAVY.COM Debates Forum

Seems like a legitimate question to me

Once in PLUSA, I saw a meet have a division for bouncers. Is the P/F division thing a post-9/11 way of honoring those people, or is it older than that? Compared to Open lifters, would P/F folk be considered to have an advantage or a disadvantage?

Certainly, there should be weight classes (but fewer), and there should be a Youth division. As someone leaving his 40s, I'm not sure the 40s needs to be included in a Masters division. (Yes, I've entered and won 40-44, 45-49, and 40-49 divisions, but I often enter Open divisions too.) When I see guys that bench 600-700 lbs. in the 40s Masters divisions, I wonder why. (To save any hypocrite-hunters the work, a couple of my 600 lb. benches this year show up under Masters division, but I did enter the Open division for those meets.)

I don't think that it's inherently negative to question something. (In this case, the P/F division concept.)
