First 800 is huge. but there is a difference between doing it at a SLP meet and doing it in the usapl/ipf ect. as far as meet helping out at meets i do and have on many occasions. and as far as people bitching about his meets but still going to them anyway. i did not compete nor will i. one of the guys from my gym did and from the get go he thought it was a joke. if latch wants to put a meet on 7 days a week more power to him. but dont call his lifts "state records" or "national champions" because they are neither.
what other meets are there in indiana?
well there was an APA meet the weekend before i believe. there is also John Smoker meets several times a year in elkhart or south bend, of course you have the usapl state and at least one other ligit meet a year in indiana. so that is about 5 meets a year which is plenty.the problem is not with him having meets, the problem is him representing the meets as legit lifts and crediting people with lifts that wouldnt count on any planet. most of us who compete train seriously and are proud of any PR or records we set. to have someone else in the same weight class lift more at one of his meets diminishes the accomplishments of others who did those weights correctly and legit.
bottom line, DONT call them records because they are not, Dont turn those stats in because they are worthless.
