Slavery: a state of mind
As a legally-permitted labour system, traditional slavery has been abolished everywhere, but it has not been completely stamped out. There are still reports of slave markets. Even when abolished, slavery leaves traces. It can persist as a state of mind-among its victims and their descendants and among the inheritors of those who practised it-long after it has formally disappeared.
I have seen this definition and many like it many times and it proves the point I was trying to make. Without a system that address the mental state created by slavery there is no hope correcting the persistent and debilitating effects of all those years of slavery. Look how your Native American ancestors have fared years after their torment ended. I live in Arizona and I have only met one Native American… how is that possible? Why do you think Native Americans are overweight and suffering a higher rate of alcoholism and obesity? Why don’t they just grow up?
“Note where it says "state of mind"..."victims"...persisting long after it has formally disappeared...... “
Look up the effects of abused children, abused wives and people who have been abducted and abused and you’ll see that they too suffer the effects long after the abuse has ended. At least they can get psychological help how do you treat the whole Native American/African American population? I hope your loved ones never come to harm of this nature because I don’t think you saying “It’s been ten years since you were abducted and raped grow up and get over it.
