Collegiate Nats 2004

Well, I was impressed by some of the lifters that attended the meet, and love the collegiate atmosphere. Congradulations to the Nicholls girls who deserve every bit of it, as well as thier great coaching staff. With that being said, some things do come to mind as to what could have made the meet better.

1) We need the meet more in the middle of the semester.

I know BSU lifters and myself found it very hard to leave the week before finals, which should not even be an issue. If we want more lifters, we should take that into consideration

2) We need to run way more platforms/and or/increse qualifying totals. Meets with more than 100 lifters or so should have 2 platforms. Their is no reason to be at a national meet for more than 6 hours a day in a 3 day meet. This just makes everyone sick of being their hungry and waiting to lift. Either run more platforms or increase qualifying totals. Sorry to the beginners, but thier is no reason for such low totals at a national meet, the bigger classes are the worst.

3) We need a facility that can hold way more lifters. My team called to make reservations 2 months in advance and couldnt get rooms at the meet site. Thier is no reason to have to stay off site to attend a meet.

4) The last thing bugging the hell out of me is the judging. Except for Mr. Billy Jack, all the judges were very inconsistant and had me agrivated to the point of no return. All of my lifters hit proper depth (breaking parallel but not 3-4 in deep), and were getting called on depth. The judges needed to take a look at the USAPL lifting rulebook and recalibrate thier brains. Nowhere in that book does it say that your a$$ has to touch your calfs.

Well enough of being a "Grinch"
