I am a parent of a collegiate powerlifter. Her father and I are currently paying $8600.00 in out of state fees so that she can attend the college she chooses to lift for and have the coach that she wants. While it is a major strain on us, it is important to my daughter.

My point is, while I wish there were scholarships, they do not exist. I have asked my daughter many times why she had to excel in a sport for which there were no scholarships. If you want to lift, you will manage somehow or another.

In fact, if the coach in questions reads this and remembers, I found him by asking this very question and expressing my frustration on the lack of scholarship.

I can only say, we are so happy that we made the decision to send her to the school of her choice. If I have to drive an old car for 4 more years, so be it.
