This is our team's constitution. If any new clubs would like to steal it, please feel free to do so. Slippery Rock and I believe Southeast La. have the same constitution as well........they simply copy/pasted it and changed ULL to the name of their respective school.
Constitution of the UL Lafayette Powerlifting Club
Article I
Official Name of the Organization
*The Official name of this organization shall be the UL Lafayette Powerlifting Club.Article II
Purpose and Goals of the Organization
Section A: Purpose
*The purpose of this organization shall be to promote Collegiate Powerlifting and to provide an opportunity for club members to enhance their abilities by training in a team environment.
*Activities that result in undue physical stress or any subtle or covert technique that will impair, make captive, or destroy an individual’s freedom of thought will not be tolerated.
*This organization will adhere to all policies and regulations of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and the University of Louisiana System.
*All fund raising activities shall be carried out in accordance with the rules and policies of the Office of Student Affairs and the UL Lafayette Union.
Section B: Goals
*The Goal of this organization is to form a competitive powerlifting team which will qualify for and compete in the annual USAPL Collegiate National Powerlifting Championships (as a representative of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette).Article III
Membership
*Membership is open to any University of Louisiana at Lafayette student who wishes to join and is willing to comply with the stipulations of this constitution.
*Membership shall not be denied on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, age, gender, or disability.Article IV
Officers, Advisors, Responsibilities
Section A: Duties
*President: The President shall preside over meetings, coordinate group activities, and communicate with other officers and the advisor on all matters related to the organization.
*Vice-President: The Vice President shall assist the President and preside over club activities in the absence of the President.
*Secretary: The secretary shall document pertinent club events and activities.
*Treasurer: The treasurer shall oversee club finances (dues collection, bill paying, and fund raising). The advisor must countersign all checks.Section B: Terms
*The terms for the offices will be two semesters. They will begin in the Fall and end at the conclusion of the Spring semester.
Section C: Election Process
*Election of officers shall be held on the last meeting of the Spring semester. To be elected, one must receive the majority of votes.
*Unexpired terms will be filled by the president.
Section D: Advisor
*The advisor must be a University of Louisiana at Lafayette staff or faculty member.
*The advisor must countersign all checks.Article V
Meetings
*Meetings will be held on a monthly basis.
*The club Secretary will see to it that all members are notified of the meeting date, time, and location.Article VI
Amendments
*This constitution may be amended at any time by two-thirds vote of the active membership.
*Proposed amendments shall be submitted to the UL Lafayette Organizations Committee for final review.
*The constitution must be reviewed every two years by the club officers.
*Any major amendments shall be submitted to the UL Lafayette Organizations Committee for final appeal.
