Brady,

I started a team this past year at Ashland University and I went through the Department of Recreational Services. There are no varsity powerlifting teams, they are all club teams through the Recreation Department (or whatever it's called at your school). Talk to the director of Recreational Services about starting a club on campus. That should get you started as far as getting recognized by your school as a legit organization. Get a few of the serious people to be officers for you, ex. president, vice president, etc. to help handle some of the tasks that are required in running a club.
