seriously though: while they have no age-limit per se, there are limits on how much competing you can do between end of high school and beginning college, which while it may allow you to compete, it limits the number of years one may do so.
My personal objection lies in that the majority of collegiate teams are made up of inexperience lifters, if not complete neophytes. That situation is changing somewhat, but historically, collegiate lifters are newbies. to toss a new lifter aged 18 vs a new lifter age 28 very likely wouldnt be much of a contest. Totally intangible, but think what one could have been doing for those years b/t hs and college.
Another valid point: we need younger lifters very badly. Especially females. Take a broader view and you will see some other reasons that that motion was voted down.
